The London neighborhood of Mayfair next to Hyde Park has been a luxury housing market for a few hundred years and with average housing prices around £5 million pounds (approx. $7.5 million USD) it is one of the few neighborhoods that has rebounded quickly while many other locales in London are still in a price slump. Thus, it is no surprise that the latest luxury feature to accompany a new construction project is one that comes with one of the largest car vaults this close to the center of the city.
This is part of Clarges Mayfair, the 34-unit building with views of Buckingham Palace and Green Park, that was recently completed. Designed by Squire & Partners the building relies on black onyx, Nettuno marbles, Portland stone, Tanganika timber and carpets made from wool and silk to achieve its classic, sophisticated look. Martin Kemp Design worked on many of the interior spaces, including three of the most prestigious units in the building. Prices start at £4.25 million (or $6.4 million USD) Here’s a look inside.

One epoch of Mayfair’s history includes its heyday as the center of London’s garment industry which the designers used as a starting point for the overall concept. The fabric on the walls of the master bedroom and lounge in the photo above are one of the ways they paid homage to that part of the Mayfair story.

Or there’s the study with floor-to-ceiling windows that can have draperies be the focal point of the room are another way they harkened the garment district era.

They also kept things classic in the kitchen with subtle tones in the marble.

The building also has a pool whose design inspiration reached even further back in time and geography by borrowing from Roman baths (some of which are still in existence in a British town called, appropriately, Bath about 90 minutes away from London).
